Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference Psychology and Music – Interdisciplinary Encounters, Zagreb, 23–26 October 2024
Synopsis
The present volume includes a selection of papers delivered at the Third International Conference Psychology and Music – Interdisciplinary Encounters, held for the first time in Croatia, at the University of Zagreb Academy of Music and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences from 23 to 26 October 2024. The conference’s interdisciplinary nature and focus on experts from various fields, as well as on-field practitioners, ensured that everyone's voice was heard. The rich conference programme included 4 plenary lectures, 7 workshops, 4 book presentations, 1 roundtable, 90 oral presentations, and 10 poster presentations. This hybrid event featured speakers from 27 countries, who delivered 109 presentations, with about 220 participants on-site or online.
The conference proceedings include 25 contributions divided into four thematic areas: Music Perception and Cognition, Music Performance, Music in Everyday Life and Music and Affect. The volume not only reflects the expanded geographical and thematic diversity of contributions but also reinforces the vision of the PAM-IE conference series as an important meeting place where psychology, musical arts, musicology, and related disciplines jointly shape new knowledge. The proceedings invite the reader to reflect on contemporary issues in the intertwining area of psychology and music in the context of interdisciplinary collaboration, performance and educational practices, as well as social and individual aspects of musical experience.
