Synopsis
Knjiga Rhetoric in the Digital Age okuplja izbor radova predstavljenih na 9. konferenciji Rhetoric in Society, održanoj u Zagrebu u lipnju 2025. Svih dvadeset radova na različite se načine dotiču odnosa između retorike i digitalnog društva, a knjiga u cjelini ističe izazove s kojima se retorika i retoričari suočavaju u 21. stoljeću u nizu područja javnoga diskursa. Knjiga istovremeno nudi moguće odgovore na te izazove predlažući nove analitičke alate, istražujući načine angažmana s umjetnom inteligencijom i pružajući povijesne perspektive o ponavljajućim poteškoćama s kojima se retorika susretala tijekom vremena. Kao drevna disciplina retorika je prošla kroz stoljeća društvenih promjena, tehnološkog razvoja i znanstvenih otkrića, no nijedna od tih transformacija nije umanjila njezinu relevantnost. Iako su njezin institucionalni položaj i pedagoška istaknutost fluktuirali kroz povijest, retorika nikada nije nestala s intelektualnog krajolika.
Danas se suočavamo s nizom izazova, uključujući dezinformacije, lažne vijesti, sveprisutni utjecaj društvenih mreža i širenje govora mržnje. U tom kontekstu retorika se pokazuje ne samo relevantnom, već i ključnim resursom u razdobljima dubokih društvenih i intelektualnih transformacija. Iako je neizbježno oblikovana stalnim tehnološkim i društvenim promjenama, nema sumnje da će ostati bitna disciplina u godinama i stoljećima koja dolaze.
