Synopsis

This is the seventh publication in the series of biennial international conferences, The Future of Information Sciences (INFuture) organised by the Department of Information and Communication Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. Since its beginnings twelve years ago, the INFuture conference has been providing a platform for discussing both theoretical and practical issues in information organization and information integration through the explorations of how developments in information and communication technology influence the future of the field of information sciences. Education and research in information sciences and its interdisciplinary scope and application is of particular interest to this conference which is aimed at researchers and professionals from the broad field of information and communication sciences and related professions. The title of this year's conference is INFuture2019: Knowledge in the Digital Age. The conference explores the influence the information and communication sciences have on the society as a whole.The INFuture2019 conference consists of 26 papers from 58 authors from nine countries -Austria, Croatia, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, South Korea, Sweden and United States.

Author Biographies

Petra Bago, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia

Petra Bago (scientist ID: 314883) was born on November 18th 1982 in Zagreb. She attended elementary school in Zagreb, Bern (Switzerland) and Sofia (Bulgaria). She graduated from the V. gymnasium in Zagreb, a high school specialized in natural sciences and mathematics.

In 2003 she enrolled at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences and the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology. Since 2004 she has been a student teaching assistant at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences. In 2006 as a coauthor she received the Rector's award for student scientific paper. She graduated at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences and the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology in 2008.

In the academic year 2008/2009 she enrolled in a postgraduate doctorate program at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences. Since 2009 she has been working at the same department as a science novice. She attended several courses, summer schools and European intensive programs in Croatia and abroad. 

 

Ivana Hebrang Grgić, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia

Ivana Hebrang Grgić was born in Zagreb, Croatia, in 1974; graduated in 1999 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, at the Department of Philosophy and at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences. Her PhD thesis in 2009 was "Open access to scientific information in Croatian journals and digital repositories".

Since July 2002 she works as a research and teaching assistant at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb.

She authored two books, "Open Access to Scientific Information in Croatia: Increasing Research Impact of a Scientifically Peripheral Country" (2011) and "Scholarly Journals and Communication" (2016). She edited six books and wrote papers for international scholarly journals and conference proceedings (listed in CROSBI). She is one of the authors of Croatian Declaration on Open Access.

From 2011 to 2013 she was a lecturer in ERASMUS intensive programme LibCMASS in Sofia, Zagreb and Ankara. In 2012 she was chosen to participate, as an open access expert, in the European Commission Joint Research Centre training course Scientific communication for public debate that was held in Ispra, Italy. In 2012 and 2013 she participated in two international researches on reference service in libraries and on information literacy (20 countries involved). She was chosen by SPARC Europe as one of "Europe's Open Access Champions" in 2016. She recieved Annual Award of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2017 for her book "Scholarly Journals and Communication".

Tomislav Ivanjko, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia

Tomislav Ivanjko was born in 1984. In 2003 enrolled at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences and the Department of Comparative Literature. In 2005 received the Foundation Ljerka Markić-Čučuković award for the best LIS student at the University of Zagreb. Graduated in 2008 with a diploma thesis from the LIS field in the top 10% of his graduating class. From 2009. employed as a research assistant at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences on the project Organization of information and knowledge in electronic learning environment under the supervision of prof. Jadranka Lasić-Lazić, full. prof. Attained PhD with the thesis Analysis and implementation of folksonomies in subject indexing of heritage materials under the supervision of prof. Sonja Špiranec, assoc. prof. Currently working as an assistant professor at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences His research interests are connected with the organization and description of digital records as well as the use of social software and crowdsourcing in the heritage domain.

Vedran Juričić, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia

Vedran Juričić was born in 1982 in Virovitica. He finished primary and secondary education in Čakovec, and graduated at the Faculty of electrical engineering and computing in Zagreb. In 2012 he received  Ph.D. at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. He is working at the Department for information sciences at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences since 2007, and currently holding a position of assistant professor.

Željka Miklošević, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia

Željka Miklošević graduated in Art History, English Language and Literature and Museology from the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Upon completing her curatorial internship at the Print Department of the National and University Library and received the title of curator, she was employed at the Museum of Slavonia Osijek where she curated collections of fine and applied arts and conducted educational activities primary and secondary school pupils. 

In 2008 she started working at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as a research and teaching assistant at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences, where she enrolled in the doctoral study programme in information and communication sciences.  She obtained a PhD degree in 2014 with the thesis titled Museum as Multimodal Communication System. She publishes papers related to museum and  heritage theory and visual communication.
Z. Miklosevic actively participates in professional associations such as Croatian Museum Association, Museum Association of Eastern Croatia, International Council of Museums (Commitee for Museum Education and Cultural Action).

Helena Stublić, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia

Born in the 1983 in Zagreb. In 2008 graduated in art history and information and communication sciences at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. From the year 2008 works at the same Faculty as the researcher and teaching assistant at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences. Completed her doctoral thesis "Interpretation Strategies of Permanent Exhibitions in Art Museums" in September 2014 at the same Faculty. Special interest in museology and heritage management.​
